In a milestone deal for Oman’s smart city ambitions, Slovak property-technology company WooW Studio, in partnership with Omani GIS-specialist Northsys, has been awarded a contract by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning to develop a digital twin for Sultan Haitham City.
Digital twin is a dynamic, virtual replica of a real-world city, built by integrating sensor data, infrastructure maps, and systems. It allows planners and operators to simulate scenarios, monitor performance, predict maintenance issues, engage with citizens, and optimize the built environment — all before physical construction.
Key Deliverables and Early Achievements
A masterplan view of the entire Sultan Haitham City has already been delivered.
A detailed digital twin of the
Sarooj Oasis neighborhood within the development has also been completed.
Supports government planning, marketing, and coordination of urban development.
Enhances citizen engagement, allowing future residents to explore the area virtually.
The system also promises improved sustainability, efficient resource management, and predictive maintenance across Sultan Haitham City.
Envisioned as one of Oman’s most ambitious urban developments, Sultan Haitham City will span approximately 14.8 million square meters and include around 20,000 housing units. The city is designed to accommodate some 100,000 residents. Featuring green corridors, sustainable infrastructure, and a large central park, it reflects Oman’s commitment to smart, sustainable living.
